Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

Thesis is committed to strictly adhering to the Guidelines on Good Publication Practice and step
by step complies with all ethical rules set out in the Guidelines of the Committee on Publication
Ethics (COPE). This applies to all parties involved in the publication process and after
publication (authors, publisher, editorial board, reviewers). Thesis instructs stakeholders to read
and follow Cambridge University Press best practices for Publishing Ethics responsibilities.

The manuscripts that are not in accordance with ethical standards will be rejected or removed
from publication. This also includes any possible malpractice discovered after the publication.
We will, in accordance with the Code of Conduct, report any cases of suspected plagiarism or
duplicate publishing.

The Journal may also impose sanctions on an author for serious intentional plagiarism,
duplication of publication or fraud, in accordance with the sanctions provided for in the
Guidelines on Good Publication Practice.

Editorial/Editor-in-Chief duties
  • Review of manuscripts: THESIS uses double-blind peer review, which implies that the
    reviewer does not know the identity of the author, nor does the author know who the
    evaluator of his/her scientific work is. THESIS collaborates with both local and
    international reviewers who are experts in their field.
  • The reviewers evaluate the work based on the originality of the THESIS, the depth of
    argumentation, the importance of the problem they are dealing with, the relevant
    resources they use, and the importance of treating such a THESIS topic in accordance
    with its aims and scope.
  • The editorial board and editor-in-chief ensure that reviewers do their job correctly,
    without prejudice to gender, religion, race, background, orientation, citizenship, etc.
  • Reviewers should provide an evaluation and response to the manuscript within a
    reasonable time of less than three months.
  • The editorial reviews which the editor-in-chief receives are confidential and are only sent
    to the authors of the work, maintaining anonymity between the two parties.
  • The editor-in-chief must correctly prove that there is no conflict of interest arising from
    competing, financial, collaborative relationships, etc. with the authors of any of the
    published or rejected articles.
  • The editor-in-chief is responsible for the content of the Journal and ensures the integrity
    of articles published in THESIS. They have the right to make the final decision to publish
    or not to publish a manuscript, relying on its significance, relevance, originality, clarity
    and relevance to THESIS Journal, with the intent to continually enhance the quality of
    the Journal while respecting the components of the magazine (readers, authors,
    reviewers, and editorial staff).

Duties of Authors:

Originality:
Every author and co-author must prove that his/her article is original. The article should provide
an accurate summary of the work done, as well as an objective discussion of the significance of
scientific work. Basic data should be presented accurately. Misleading or inaccurate statements
constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable. The author must prove that the article
submitted for publication in THESIS has not been previously published, nor is it in the process of
being published in any other journal.

Unacceptable behavior:

  • Fabrication, forgery, fraud: the creation of false data or other aspects of scientific
    research, including documentation and consent of participants;
  • Inappropriate manipulation or selection of data, images, quotations of others, or any
    other type of fraudulent conduct;
  • Plagiarism: This involves copying or abusing ideas, text, software, or data / results or any
    combination thereof, without proper permission and quotation. Researchers are strongly
    encouraged to agree in advance with any co-author or contributor to the study;
  • Self-plagiarism (the presentation of a previously published work as if it were new). This is
    considered misconduct if it involves superficial reworking and updating of the material
    while introducing it as a completely new scientific product;
  • Misrepresentation of data / results by negligence or otherwise;
  • Duplication of publication, including undisclosed copies when submitting manuscripts
    for publication;
  • Non-disclosure of conflict of interest, including non-disclosure of material, research
    interests or research funding (failure to disclose the fact that the research is funded by
    any entity);
  • Misrepresentation of scientific qualifications or experience;
  • Misrepresentation of authorial involvement, such as inappropriate claims of authorship
    or denial of authorship or contribution.
  • Any manuscript received by Thesis editorial office is treated as a confidential document.
    Reviewers should not share the review or information about working with anyone or
    contact the authors directly after publication when the peer review can understand the
    authorship of the manuscript. Unpublished materials from the magazine may not be
    used for any purpose by the editorial staff or peer reviewer.

Our ethic statements are based on COPE’s Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors
(https://publicationethics.org/resources/guidelines).

Conflict of interests:

Authors should state in their manuscript any financial relationships with other people or
organizations that may be seen as having an inappropriate influence (prejudice) on their work.

Post-publication discussions and corrections

When the author discovers any material inaccuracies or errors in his work, he should inform the
editorial board of the Journal to correct the error. In cases when the error is discovered after
publication on paper, then the publisher in the next issue publishes a note as follows:
Corrigendum, is a statement issued by the publisher informing the reader that an article has
been corrected after publication. These corrections may relate to the title, authors or anything
else that has confused the full meaning of the article. Errors can be primarily technical through
the fault of the author or publisher.
Erratum, is a statement by the authors of the paper, that briefly describes any correction
resulting from errors or omissions.
Retraction, is a notice that the article should not be regarded as part of the scientific literature.
The Journal editors follow COPE guidelines on retraction.

Copyright is retained by the authors of the articles published in Thesis. Articles are licensed
under an open access Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 license. This mean that anyone may read
and download the paper for free. In addition, articles may be reused and quoted provided that
the original published version is cited. These conditions allow for maximum use and exposure of
the work, while ensuring that the authors receive proper credit.
Submitting a paper and publishing it means that the article has not been published before and is
not being considered for publication elsewhere.
The Journal and the editors are not responsible for any possible infringement of the existing
copyright in the articles published in the Journal. The responsibility falls on the authors of those
articles. The Journal or publisher are not responsible for subsequent uses of the work.
