Correlations between skills in Communicative Language Teaching and Engage Study Activate Method in Kosovo Schools

Abstract
Almost all methods of ELT put in their first place the students’ performance. As part of students’ performance are also the skills such as: reading, writing, listening and speaking. Some methods pay attention more on reading and writing, while some others such as CLT pays more attention on communication (speaking). In this research paper were tested the secondary school students, respectively tenth grade Kosovo students, in order to get information of the correlation between the variables (skills) for students taught with ESA and students taught with CLT. At the same time, it was also seen, which the skills are where the students have shown better results with above mentions methods of ELT.

The role of active labor market policies in increasing youth employment

Abstract
One of the main problems facing Kosovo today is youth unemployment. The main purpose of this paper is to study the role of active labor market policies in increasing youth employment. Work data has been collected from various sources. For the theoretical part, data are obtained from academic literature related to active labor market policies that apply in all other countries of the world, while for the practical part the data are obtained from
performance reports of the Public Employment Service, Surveys of Power Workers, published by the Kosovo Agency of Statistics, as well as reports from other institutions that promote active labor market policies for the integration of young people into employment. The conclusion of the paper is that active labor market policies are the best mechanism for channeling and streamlining state intervention in the labor market with clear goals; Kosovo has created a few years of practice in implementing active labor market policies, but this practice should be strengthened to further develop.

Management of financial recourses in the MAFRD of the agriculture sector in Kosovo

Abstract

The agricultural sector in Kosovo is of great importance regarding economic development of the country as it can considerably contribute to the overall employment, as well as to the growth of Gross Domestic Product. However, despite the importance of this sector in the development of the country and improvement of the current situation, investments in this sector and the exploitation of its potential remain at an unsatisfactory level. In the development of this sector, an important role also belongs to the commitment of local bodies and institutions, in particular to the Ministry of
Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development. This scientific paper aims to provide a general overview of the current situation of the agriculture sector and its role in the development of the country, as well as to present and analyse on a scientific basis the management of financial resources by local
institutions, in particular of the aforementioned Ministry in the development of this sector. The scientific paper is based on data analysis presented in various financial reports and local strategic documents, laws and regulations in force, interviews with responsible officials as well as other relevant scientific sources in this field. The analysis will be accompanied by tabular and graphical presentation.

The challenges of nurse management at the University Clinical Center of Kosova

Abstract

The role of the nurse manager is complex and requires advanced skills when communicating with patients and their families, nurses, doctors, other health and allied workers as well as superiors. This paper analyzes the challenges of nurse management at the University Clinical Center of Kosovo. The
authors interviewed 30 senior nurse managers. Although in a large percentage (90%) are a part of a planning for the future in respective clinics, nurse managers were never involved in writing treatment protocols. The majority of the managers reported absolute or partial intrusion of the hospital management and doctors in performing their daily duties. Paid leave as an award and change of the assignment as a penalty, are the only instruments in the hand of nurse managers to motivate or sanction nurses. Almost half of the managers do not know how their performance is evaluated by the superiors, while every fourth of the nurse managers do not agree with the evaluation. Majority is satisfied with the public image of the profession. The difficulties that nurse managers are facing are mainly linked to the poor definition of their position and roles, but also at the poor exercise
of the delegated competencies.

The features of political culture in post- communist Albania

Abstract

Studying the political culture of a country plays an explanatory role in understanding the dynamics of the political system, the birth and consolidation of democratic institutions in certain societies. The purpose of this paper is to argue that political culture in post-communist Albania is not congruent with the formal democratic institutions of the country, because this political culture has inherited many influences during the communist totalitarian system for nearly five decades. The impacts and consequences of totalitarianism remain untreated by Albanian society, and therefore it is of particular interest to research these topics. Through the analysis of the components of political culture we can explain the stage of democratic consolidation of a society, the level of citizen participation in democracy and the performance of institutions, in this case of Albania. The main assumption of this paper is that post-communist political culture in Albania has delayed the process of democratic consolidation in the country, during an unfinished transition phase, from the totalitarian system to the system of liberal-democratic states. The methodology used in this paper is of a qualitative nature with an
interpretative and analytical approach. The theoretical framework of the paper on which it is interpreted, analyzed and typified by the post-communist Albanian political culture relies on theorists such as Almond, Verba, Inglehart and others.

Ethnic decentralization in Kosovo

Abstract

The Declaration of Independence of Kosovo on February 17, 2008 was based on the so- called “Ahtisaari package”, prepared by the envoy of the General Secretary of the United Nations, Martti Ahtisaari. The general conditions were related to the democratic and multi-ethnic nature of the state, but particularly they had to do with the granting and guaranteeing the rights of national minorities or minority communities as referred to the document.
Among other elements, the proposal presumed that through decentralization of local government and the foundation of new municipalities where minority communities live, to guarantee their self- government as a process of acceptance and integration in the state of Kosovo. The aim of this paper is to demonstrate that decentralization and the foundation of new municipalities, especially the Serb community in Kosovo, more than helped with their self-government has led to their disintegration and isolation, deepen even more the separation from the ethnic majority population in Kosovo. The Association of Serb municipalities reached in Brussels on August 2015, demonstrates the tendency of the local Serb municipalities to connect to an autonomous political organisation, as a preliminary phase towards the total boycott of the Kosovo state.

The influence of mother tongue (Albanian) in learning and teaching EFL

Abstract

Using first language (L1) as a necessary and facilitating role in the second /foreign language (L2) classroom, has been a very hotly debated issue among teachers of English. This paper aims at examining students’ and teachers’ perceptions of the use of mother tongue and translation in various linguistic situations. This study examined language transfer while learning and teaching EFL, respectively the language interference in the written English of
Albanian students. The study focused on recognizing, describing and explaining transfer-induced lexical and syntactic patterns that occur in essays written by Albanian University level students, and on following a possible change in the quantity and quality of these transfer patterns. The analysis of these transfer patterns aims at explaining the written English production by Albanian students, namely, how it is influenced by their mother tongue and what types of changes have taken place in it. The activities that help raise learners’ awareness of the language use are described. The findings reveal that all learners need a support of mother tongue in English classes, but the amount of the native language needed depends on students’ proficiency in English. This article will report on a piece of research that will be carried out in my own teaching/learning environment at the Language Center – South East European University in Tetova, and will present a comparative study of students’ and teachers’ perceptions regarding the use of L1 in EFL classes in the monolingual classroom.
